This was the first very large group photograph that we have had to restore. We actually take group photographs, mostly schools and colleges, as a significant part of our business (see our other web site http://www.groupphotos.co.uk) and it was delightful to have something like this to repair.
The original print, although very badly creased and ripped, lengthwise almost to the middle, was quite sharp and well detailed. Unfortunately a number of the faces had been damaged beyond repair and we had to create one or two "twins" in order to fill the gaps but there was no way around this.
Here is a small area of the photograph which gives some idea of the detail that has been saved The final restored picture is shown below. It has actually been printed and framed (now 3 feet long) and obviously cannot be effectively displayed here. Perhaps you know someone who appeared on the original picture?
